Shifter
The fastest karts there are.
The Shifter class sits at the very top of the karting ladder. A six-speed gearbox, a 125cc two-stroke, and speeds that embarrass sports cars around a tight track.
Experienced drivers 15 and up only. A shifter kart assumes years of racecraft built in other classes. It is the destination of the ladder, never the on-ramp.
Shifter karts run a 125cc two-stroke paired with a real six-speed gearbox, operated with a hand lever and clutch. MCK's class accommodates KZ, ROK, Honda, and FZ shifter packages.
Shifter racing adds gear selection to every corner on top of the racing line and braking. The karts exceed 80 mph, the racing is intense, and it is the most demanding driving on the property.
See every class side by side, and find the one that fits a driver by age and weight, in the Class Explorer.
How fast is a shifter kart?
Shifter karts are the fastest karts there are, exceeding 80 mph with some setups approaching 90. A 125cc two-stroke paired with a six-speed gearbox makes them quicker around a tight track than far more expensive cars.
Can a beginner race the Shifter class?
No. The Shifter class is for experienced drivers 15 and up who have built racecraft in other classes. The speed, the gear changes, and the physical demand all assume an accomplished racer.
