What You Will See

IT IS BETTER IN PERSON.

Karting on TV looks small. Trackside it is anything but: engines you feel in your chest, three-wide into turn one, and finishes decided by inches. Here is what a Rhythm & Race day delivers.

Karts racing wheel to wheel on the Music City Kartplex circuit
Wheel-To-Wheel Racing

Tight packs of evenly matched karts, real overtakes, and last-lap drama in nearly every class.

Karts from across the classes out on track on race day
19 Classes, All Ages

From 5-year-olds in Kid Karts to masters racers over 35. A full day of variety, never the same race twice.

Podium Ceremonies

Trophies handed out trackside after the finals. Championship points on the line at every round.

The Race Day
How A Day Runs.

Morning Warm-Ups
To The Podium.

1Morning
Gates Open + Warm-Ups

Drivers check in and the first classes head out for practice. A quiet, easy time to walk the paddock and see the karts up close.

2Late Morning
Qualifying + Morning Heats

The clock starts mattering. Qualifying sets the grid, then heat races sort the field for the finals. The racing gets real here.

3Midday
Lunch Break + Kid Karts

A break in the action, food on site, and the youngest racers take the track for their own practice, heat, and final.

4Afternoon
Finals + Podium Ceremonies

The main event. Every class runs its final, championship points are on the line, and trophies are handed out trackside. If you only catch part of the day, catch this.

A Kart Race?

Competitive karting is split into classes so every driver races people their own age, weight, and machinery. That is why the fields are so close. Here is the quick version, so the racing makes sense the moment you walk in.

The Briggs LO206 engine, sealed so every kart is equal. The most popular ladder in American karting, and the easiest way for a family to get started.

Rental

Spectator Questions
Do I need a ticket to watch a race at Music City Kartplex?

Yes. On Rhythm & Race Championship days, a spectator day pass is $15 for adults. Kids 5 and under free. You can pay at the gate on race day or reserve passes online ahead of time.

Is it free for kids to watch?

Children 5 and under get in free with a paying adult. Race day is built to be a family outing, and there is plenty to keep younger kids interested between sessions.

What time should I arrive to watch the racing?

Gates open in the morning, but the afternoon finals and podium ceremonies are the highlight of the day. If you can only catch part of race day, plan to arrive by early afternoon for the most action.

Is there food and parking at the track?

Yes. Food is available trackside on race days. General parking is available on-site, free for spectators. You are welcome to bring folding chairs, sunscreen, and sun shade. It is an outdoor facility, so dress for the weather.

Can I watch kart racing for free any other day?

Open practice and Arrive & Drive rental days are free to walk in and watch. The spectator day pass applies specifically to Rhythm & Race Championship rounds, when the full competitive program runs all day.

What is competitive karting like for a first-time spectator?

Fast, close, and easier to follow than it looks. Karts race in classes grouped by age, weight, and engine, so every race is a tight pack of evenly matched drivers. Live timing screens and trackside commentary help you follow who is winning.
